© GatecrasherLast year marked 10 years since Gatecrashers spiritual home the ‘Republic’ in Sheffield sadly burnt to the ground. Not forgotten Scott Bond hosted a party in celebration and as a very special treat has made the live sets all available to download…

Many trance fans will have very fond memories of Gatecrasher from the late 90’s and into the 2000’s especially if you had the pleasure of attending one of their nights in Sheffield. Clubbers would travel far and wide from all corners of the UK to the Republic venue in the heart of Sheffield. Scott Bond was one of the residents of the club and played at some its finest parties showcasing as it was then cutting edge trance. You could say gatecrasher was partly responsible for bring trance music into the eyes of the UK clubbing communality along with the other big brands around at the time like Godskitchen. The history of the club, brand has been well documented so you don’t need me to tell, you about it.

Last June they had a very special party to honour 10 years since the clubs fiery demise. Scott Bond went back to back all night with his fellow resident Matt Hardwick, Marco V, M.I.K.E., Dumonde, Paul Pearson, Guy Ornadel and Matt Darey. He has release all those live sets as a download on his Soundcloud page, over nine hours of pure trance gold. I suggest you take a listen and while your there have a look around for Scott’s other mixes as he tends to put quite a few on his page free to download. He had a few things to say through his social media outlets when he announced the live sets had gone up.

What Scott said about the sets:

The Republic of Gatecrasher event held in June signified 10 years since the iconic venue in Sheffield known as the Republic and spiritual home to so many of the Gatecrasher faithful, tragically burnt to the ground.

10 years on and the music still plays on! We all grew with the music from 1997-2007 and felt obliged to hold a commemorative party so as to celebrate those many joyous memories experienced at this momentous institution. Gatecrasher has always been about inclusion and was not only a tribute to all our regulars but also to those who never have had the opportunity to experience it first-hand.

In order to make this event unique, I wanted to try something different and completely out of my comfort zone! After many lengthy discussions, I made the conscious decision to go back to back with the entire main room lineup. From early doors until the final tune, everybody who attended was guaranteed a nostalgic, musical journey.

Post-Republic of Gatecrasher blues and it was really pleasing to have received so many positive and thought provoking comments with regard to how musically diverse it actually was. I wholeheartedly agree and thought it necessary to share these wonderful sets. Just listening back, you'll be really hard pushed to find such a wide range/variety of Trance to encapsulate one night!!!

Many thanks go out to Paul Pearson, Guy Ornadel, Matt Hardwick, M.I.K.E. Push, Marco V, Matt Darey and DuMonde (JamX) who all contributed to this amazing event by joining me on this 9 hour adventure. Now you can too ;). Happy New Year to everyone and best wishes for 2018!!!

Over nine hours of music with Scott Bond back to back with:

Marco V
M.I.K.E. Push
Matt Darey
Guy Ornadel
Dumonde (JamX)
Paul Pearson
Matt Hardwick (The Peoples Republic Set)
