© John AskewTake a few moments to read this very special message from John Askew to all his VII fans from all over the globe on this past year and what to expect from the next one from him and the label…

Without people like John Askew and the artists around him there would be a very big chuck of the trance scene missing. There has been some outstanding music from the VII label this year, with single after single and the launch of their solo compilation with Simon Patterson. The first of many to come and if you want to know what’s coming have a read of this very personal message from John about this past year and what to expect as we head towards the next.

JOHN ASKEWS VII MESSAGE

I trust you are all well. This is John Askew messaging you - our inner circle - from VII HQ in the UK. First of all I’d like to thank all of you for the support of the amazing Volcano on Mars remix of Autobahn which hit number 1 on Beatport early this week. That marks the final release for the label this year so a great way to wrap up what has been a brilliant year. The delayed delivery of Simon Patterson’s awesome new single meant we’ve pushed that back to be the first release of 2020 as well as the first release of our next Black Chapter.

This year has been a crazy year for me - a lot of highs but some lows too. If you follow me / us - then you know what I’m talking about so I won’t bother going into the details - but let’s just say I want to take this opportunity to thank you - our crew, our posse - for the support and love throughout.

Next year is shaping up to be big and we will absolutely be putting all our focus on the label with less of an emphasis on live events. There will of course be some live events - but more than likely just Phuket and one more. Less is more. The reason being that this year the time our team has invested into the VII events has in my opinion been too much and has detracted away from the label - which for me is the heart of VII. Yes we had an amazing year of releases - but with only 11 singles - I think we released 4 or 5 too few and so next year that is going to change. I’m going to be less focused on events and more focused on the label. With that in mind let me say we have a 15 release year scheduled and every VII artist has his dates, deadlines and instructions to deliver the biggest music of their career. I've lit their fuses. Oh yes.

After a year of Fluorescent Chapter releases in 2019 - with remixes, collaborations and all kinds of other colourful and potent variations - 2020 is going to be VII going back to our roots. VII artists producing stand alone singles. Black Chapter. White Chapter. Yes there will be a few other special moments with friends coming in to join the party - but the majority of the next 12 months will be about the seven artists on seven alone.

So - with that in mind I just wanted to get this personal message out to you guys to fill you in on what’s to come so you can start getting a semi over the beats that will be coming your way.

We kick off on Jan 6th with the first Black Chapter release in what feels like a year and half. Simon Patterson, back from the US and back 100% focused and absolutely on fire in the studio - steps up with Kick Bass Acid Loud. Oh my giddy aunt. If this is how the year is going to pan out - I’m fully erect with anticipation.

I can’t wait to see you all at VII Amsterdam in two weeks. Come and grab me for a beer and let’s talk trance.

Big love to you all.

:0)’

JA xx
