Post subject: question on bpm & key |
|
|
hey everyone, i was wondering if there is a specific way to determine the key of a record, because i want to catagorize my crate by key and bpm. If there is any software or a quick way to learn it by ear it would be appreciated.

bpm is simple... all u need is a bpm counter
key tho... i aint sure ... i take it by key you mean pitch ?? i think u just have to listen to it.. unless u can get programs which tell u it.. i know there are programs which will allow u to change it..

i aint seen any single program or used any, but i use traktor/mixmeister, which both display and list the bpms for the music files, and for key, if its fequency, you could use cool edit/soundforge, but i think that would be pretty much meaningless anyway

hey, thanks for your input, i should have been more specific....i have programs for bpm, but i want to label my records by key so i can mix through some tracks with key. I think you guys know what i mean, like taking the drumless part of a track and mixing it with another drumless part of a track. I think soundforge would do it right, so that was a good suggestion.
thanks
