Military service

I was at my "sign on" test today up in "Karlstad"
Cute town in the "noth" of sweden
And i passed, havnt got any duty to the country which means that I can do what ever I want instead of shooting at meaningless things

Anyone here that have served in the military?
Or want to

I've not been in the military myself but a good m8 of mine will be joining the army in november.

Isn't that the most sunny place in Sweden btw?

Military service...hmm....yeah...I've been there...was in Gamlebyen (Fortified part of the town I live in...got a star-shaped moat around the city with high walls inside...a place you should visit if you ever come to Fredrikstad...military is not in there anymore btw....everything moved last year). Anyway...I was in there for 4 days before I got my first medical certificate and was at home for 2 weeks...then I was back for another 2-3 days before they sent me back home Razz

Those few days I was there I slept at home and biked over EARLY in the morning...had to take the ferry across the river at 5:45am each day to get in early enough to help the others clean the floors and tidy the barracks (I had a bed there that had to be neat for inspection). That's about all I did there anyway...during daytime I had NOTHING to do...just had to be there in my office (got a "job" as computer-assistant or something). Most of the time I spent reading some cached online newspaper that was the only thing they allowed on their intranet...bah...

Was happy when I finally got sent home and could go back to my normal job.... Smile

Belgium decided that there wasn't any need for it no more, which i found a shame

i would love to go to the military, and do some 'time' there, so it'll learn u what it is like

glad they scrapped it here...would only go into army if i had 2..to protect are gracious nation!!!

all the old people here want it brought back though..to teach some disapline into are 'yobbish, drunken youth' ......cos it wasnt like that in their day...oh no....
