ive just got a new computer (monday) and have XP for the first time..

anyways.. i keep getting a box pop up entitled "messenger service" advertising pop up killers...

www.destroyads.com or www.messengerkiller.com are web sites it advertisers...


does anyone know how i can stop this ??

Go to:
Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services

Find a service in there called: Messenger

and stop it. It's the only way to kill it I think.

However, it will also kill ordinary messages sent over the network...but if it's your home-computer it probably won't hurt.

dont have an "administrative" option..

i got..

themes
network & internet connections (couldnt see it in their tho)
add / remove programs
sound
performance & maintanence
printers
user acounts
date e.t.c
accesability

..any ideas ??? Rolling Eyes

To the left in the control panel window you must click "Switch To Classic View" in order to see all options available...

I got XP for the first time a few months back with my new PC. Cracking operating system is a bit lacking security, but that can always be patched.

Have to say tho, the new windows gfx design on it is proper shite, I put mine back to the classic style within minutes.

As for that pop up.

Next time you put a cd in, select the program you want it to open and tick the "always do this action" box at the bottom, then it will load the program and not that annoying options box.
