I can't believe what i've just read my blood is boiling Evil or Very Mad apparently it is now illegal it compile CD's with music that you have legitemately bought for your own use. I can understand downloading tune off your local P2P is illegal but this is taking the p*iss

I can't see how they are going to enforce this stupid idea but no doubt they'll prosecute someone to make an example.

check out the link it's absolutley crazy Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

this is really sick!

I was discussing this with my brother yesterday, and we thought all new compilations that is released one after another with same old tracks but with new names and have mixed the songs to another series.
Like:
Best of the 80´s
The very best of the 80´s
Most wanted 80´s

Or all the party compilations with same old (shit) music.

any way what we said was that you can take all the songs that you have bought and put together your own compilation and then this shows up

How many timed do we have to bought a "licens" for a track to be able to legally listen to it?!!

DAMN ALL THOOSE PEOPLE

Not in Canada!

We pay a tax of blank recording materials to the cdn version of the RIAA. Technically in Canada, I could copy a cd that I did not buy and it would be legal, as long as it was for my personal use. Then again, I've never done that. I want a cd, I go buy it, if I don't have the coin, I wait and listen to my other cd's. Privacy laws are strict here, doubtful that an ISP would be forced to give up a user.

Wait a minute!!!! We already have to pay enormous wads of cash for a little round plasticy metally thingy, and first we can't read it on our comps because they think we'll try to share it and now we can't take tracks from it because of.... God only knows? Why pay for it I say?!!!
I know the US will take this up soon, they love stripping our supposed rights away from us.

So, if I was to create a mix CD from various legally prucahsed mediums it would be classed illegal and I would be charged?

Now that is going a bit too far.

I buy more things now than I have ever done before. I think companys are trying to find excuses to why their products are not selling. Blame it on pirates etc

haha, as far as i'm concerned, they're probably just using that as a way to further discourage ppl from dl'ing music. not going to stop me, and i doubt anyone will care about that stupid law anyways, it's the j-walking law of copyright music.. haha.. so stupid

Luckily this is not illegal in Norway (yet).

Anyway, if they give the copyright-owners more power now they will soon be sitting listening to their copyrighted music all by themselves. The rest of us can come to their office and listen with them, or maybe go to a concert. They will stop selling cd's because then they can't control if the buyer lets someone else listen to the cd (since every single listener must pay their fee). Dj's can't just buy 1 copy to play at a party, they have to pay for 2000 copies if they play for 2000 people.

The future will be bright Wink

remember the music industry is a 30B dollar industry...lots of money involved...i can understand why the riaa is taking these lameass tactics...trying to save parts of that cash...then again....you have the investors into the music companies and artists telling them what to do.

I just had a thought, what do the artists think? lol
And good points, Davehart, about not being able to own CD's. sigh When'd music stop being about music and start being about money anyway! Grrrr!!!

I'm glad to hear this, because frankly the very idea is stupid. All it does is save you from changing the CD every few minutes for a new song.
