RIOT! 018
NICK SENTIENCE
'NICK SENTIENCE EP'
Tracklist
A1)NICK SENTIENCE 'TRANSCENDER'Listen & buy.
AA1)NICK SENTIENCE ‘BRING IT ON’ Listen & buy.
The legendary Nick Sentience has been at the forefront of hard dance since it first began. Acclaimed for is pioneering production techniques which other producers can only attempt to imitate.
He has toured across the world with huge fan bases in UK, Australia, US, South Africa.
Nick Sentience’s first EP on ‘Riot! Recordings’ with more backing from the scene than anyone could possibly hope for.
Mixmag – Lee Guffy
As you'd expect from Nick and the Riot label, a two-stop adventure with one of the most talented producers to twiddle the hard dance knobs; period.
DJ Mag – Simon Eve 5/5 ‘Sure Player’
Nick Sentience has been a little quiet on the release front of late, but he's about to make amends with two releases in quick succession on the Riot label. First up is his 'Nick Sentience EP' that features two fresh cuts, and if you're in any doubt as to what the hard dance scene has been missing while Nick has had a short break then look no further than 'Transcender' here, which is surely an early contender for 'Anthem Of 2006'. In short, this is futuristic hard dance executed to perfection, riding on the back of a psy-tinged bassline, intricate drops and drum fills, and all capped off with superb subtle melodic trance riffs that are guaranteed to send any dancefloor into a sea of ecstasy. The package is completed by the impressive tech based groover 'Bring It On', making this one unmissable twelve inch for hard dance fans.
I-DJ - Tom Harding 5/5
Nick Sentience EP (Riot!) TOP TUNE
Transcender is a rolling, techy trancer that is essential to own and demonstrates why NS is such a creative producer. But, my lord, it is Bring It On That will do the real damage in clubland. Tough, techy, energetic and pounding, the impact this has is reminiscent of DMC all those years ago and it is superb stuff that will be the standout track of any set. Cool, clever and above all massive this is how hard dance should sound and is a lesson to any budding producer. With Nick and Riot! setting standards like this, 2006 is going to be a great year for hard dance. Simply awesome. 5/5
M8 Magazine – James Lawson 8/8
I have missed having new Nick Sentience tracks filling up my record box, and I'll bet that many of you out there will have too. The A Side is a hard dance mix with a really interesting mish mash that has resulted in an interesting arrangement and an almighty riff in the middle that should get even the most jaded clubber on the floor hands aloft. Flip over the record, or press the jog wheel on your CD player(which seems to be more the norm these days) and 'Bring it On' will impress you with its cracking signature sounds. More than just fodder, these tracks are the backbone to a heathy dancefloor.
www.harderfaster.net - Olly Perris 5/5
'Transcender' I was lucky enough to hear this when Nick was producing this and the finished track is just sublime. Combining the best of the Israeli psy sound with the power of UK hard trance, this track has all I need to get my set moving up a gear!
'Bring It On'However, this one edges it as the pick of the EP for me. Funky, groovy and again, just brilliantly made, this track got me hooked from the moment the first beat kicked in. A lot of people are tipping Sentience as one of the finest electronic music producers of the last 10 years and with tracks like this you’d be hard pushed to disagree. A simply phenomenal track from Nick!
