About The Release:
16 Steps is proud to present the fifth instalment in its series. This release being the World debut from Beppe Gallo, a past student of ours here at 16 Steps. Gallo's early inspirations go back to the Old School masters Kerry Chandler and Masters at Work and these influences can be heard in this EP, as he effortlessly moves through Deep House, Tech and Funk to create an outstanding and timeless record.
Funky, but with a sinister edge, Silver combines a lively funk bass, with loosely programmed percussion, long pads and prominent FX. Drop straight to the bass for a surprise on the earlier dancefloors.
Another funky number, 4 Play has a jacking groove, accompanied by melodic organ stabs and delayed vocals. The low-pitched gritty bass hits on the downbeat and contributes to the groove, while giving the track a tougher feel than the others.
As the title suggests, Way back is a homage to the old School. The infectious hook is consistent throughout the track and moves from the back to front of the mix using different strengths of reverb. It is joined by a string pedal and rolling groove, containing the classic off beat 909 hats and prominent shakers.
About the Artist:
Originally from Italy, Beppe Gallo moved to the UK in 1997 and has set himself up as a known DJ and promoter in the London scene. Beppe joined us as a student here at 16 Steps in 2009 and has since gained recognition for his production style, boasting deeper melodies and bouncy, grooving percussion.
