Post subject: Who do you respect? |
|
|
Since our forums have hit the shitter due to many circumstances that I won't bother getting into and I'm sick and tired of the B.S. I'm going to do something about it
So today's topic (don't attempt to steal my idea or you shall die!)
Who do you respect in this world and why (maybe top 3) and maybe add, who do you not respect and why. I don't want to see crap one line answers people!
I'll post my own in a bit.

Interesting topic, one time I was thinking the same thing and made a list of all the people I respect (most of them dead) for what they have accomplished in their life.
Lord Nelson - the commander of the British navy during the Napoeonic wars. Defeated Napoleon at every turn and led to Britain's dominance over the seas.
Sir Edmund Hilary - the first man to reach the summit of Mount Everest
Napoleon Bonaparte - not only a great military genius, but an able statesman.
Erwin Rommel - commander of the German forces in Africa during World War II.

Timothy Leary - was a relative of mine. I have read his book Design for Dying and have done loads of research on him. He was just misunderstood...
Ram Dass - along the lines of Leary. Also misunderstood but not nearly as much as leary. This man helped so many people cope with the fact that they were dying and therefore turned their last days into happy ones.
Rodney Dangerfield - R.I.P Great comedian. before a few days ago I had dreamed of meeting him. Now that will never happen....
DJ Tiesto - Played for all those people at the Olympics and was the first to do so.

Interesting that out of my choices, you should ask about Rommel...
An excellent commander, albeit for Germany in WWII, did extremely well in Africa before the British beat him. A lot of people forget that he also invaded France and defended it from the Normany invasion as well.
I don't really know why, I think he was brilliant even though he was on the wrong side of the war. Nothing says you can't respect your enemies.

I respect JamX & DeLeon because they've managed to be my favourite dj's for 5 years now. And I'm fickle when it comes to music.
I respect Jhonen Vasquez....well...have u ever read Johnny the Homocidal Maniac!? And especially Happy Noodleboy? People with such an insane sense of humour need my respect!
I respect my classmates at college, because they're all much better than me.

Firstly my parents cos without them I would not be...!!!!
Secondly me , myself. If I as an individual cannot respect myself I fail 2 see that I can respect others

George Carlin would be fairly high up on my list of people I respect.

Lots of "own ways" to follow.
But I agree on (what someone wrote) respecting those who respect me.
