Post subject: RAM question |
|
|
as of currently my computer has 512 MB of RAM which is not enough. I cant run my ne3w Battlefield 2 game plus ive needed RAM for a very long time for music production. I have narrowed it down to 2 options.
option one: buy 2 1GB sticks of RAM for $123 each and a total of $247.
or
option two: buy 1 1GB stick of RAM for $123 and 1 512MB stick of RAM for $63 with a total of $186.
remember that i already have 512MB of RAM. would 2.5 be overkill for my machine or should i jsut go with 2GB? |

| hey, you need to make sure what yourm otherboard is capable of holding, if its new its liekly to be more than 2, but if its a fairly oldish PC then it might not take more than 1gb. rm wont solve everything, 512 is a decent amount, when you find things goin abit slow its likely to come down to your CPU |

You could run 2.5 gig but check your motherboard to see if it is a dual channel one. If thats thew case you can only put the same RAM sticks in pairs of the same size.
I'd go with 2GB anyway, more than enough for the moment. _________________ www.davehart.me |

| well the motherboard has 3 slots for RAM but i dont know how much it can handle. Seeing as i just got 1.5 GB bringing me up to 2GB, i know it can handle that. so i now have all 3 slots taken up. |
