Hi guys - last week we had chance to catch up with M6 before his UK DEBUT at DS this friday.

DS. Hi Mark hope things are cool?

Except for lack of sleep I’m doing great, thanks!

DS. So what have you been up to in the last year, has 2009 been a good year for you- what were your highlights?

So far I’m very happy with the year! My track ‘Paradise Lost’ was featured on the ASOT 2009 compilation and ‘Opus Sectrum’ was chosen ‘Tune of the Week’ on ASOT. Another highlight for me was my performance at Selecta White in Recife, Brazil. This was my first gig outside of Europe and the Brazilians sure know how to party! Also the Trancegate party in Milan rocked hard again this year!


DS. Have you any new material on the horizon on Enhanced or any other labels?

As always I’m busy like a bee in the studio. First of all I’m reviving the “Project 6” alias. This old project will have a release on Enhanced in the beginning of next year. Furthermore there’s new collabs coming up with Willem van Hanegem en Klauss Goulart which will be out in the near future! And I will release my first vocal track as well… more on that soon.

DS. What have you got planned for 2010?

A sh*t load of new music!!! Furthermore I want to upgrade my studio and I will be touring the globe for some nice gigs.

DS. Who has been a major influence for you in your musical career?

Trancewise M.I.K.E. has always been a great example for me as well as Benno de Goeij. They’ve done so many amazing things over the years that it’s hard to keep count.
I also admire classical composers like Beethoven and Chopin who continue to inspire me when I play or hear their music.

DS. How would you describe your DJ style?

Versatile, like my productions. I like to start things slow and keep building up the bpm during the whole set to end with a BANG!

DS. What is the most challenging aspect of being a DJ/Producer?

Keeping things fresh. It’s always a lot of fun to challenge yourself to try new things.

DS. What advice have you got for anyone wanting to make it as a DJ or/and producer?

Practice, read about it, get some piano lessons and a lot more practice on top of that!

DS. What is your most funniest/embarrassing moment as a DJ moment?

A funny moment was when I was in Italy for a gig with my friend Re:locate. We were just relaxing in the sun before our gig and suddenly a bus drives by with destination “Breda”, the place we were both born and raised in Holland! So we decided to take the bus back home hahaha


DS. Are you looking forward to the Enhanced DS Invitation Xmas event?

Very much so. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the British crowd so if you don’t disappoint me, I sure as hell won’t disappoint you!

DS. Have you anything special planned for your set or any exclusives you will be airing at the event?

I’ve got a lot of new material waiting in my record bag to get some air time, so I’m sure you will hear some very exclusive stuff from me…

DS. And finally tell us a random/interesting fact about yourself?

I have a university degree in psychology, so if any of you is feeling down, you’re welcome on my sofa! hahahaha
