I saw Cass play little ol' Chch here in NZ last weekend (15th June). His set
lasted four hours (!) and I only left the floor twice -- once for tequila, the
other time was for water Razz

So many wicked tunes were played, tho surprisingly not Opera. Unsure
how he could've missed out such an epic tune from such an epic set ...
but hey, I'm not complaining! The entire set was a polished blend of
minimalist house with that refreshingly experimental sound (some tracks
could have come straight from Detroit!) and deep/ambient house leading
to multiple climactic moments of real energetic boogie music. The guy's
a legend!
The last half hour was all solid 145bpm mayhem, full of
some pretty dark samples and nasty dirty pounding beats Twisted Evil

That last half hour was almost like a slowed down, more intellectual Yoji Biomehanika

I ran into him out the front of the (tiny) club after his set (which finished
at 7.30am), shook his hand and thanked him gratuitously for playing. "My
pleasure" he said. I can just picture my Granny saying "what a nice
young man"!

I almost offered him some gum cos he was grinding like a demon Laughing
but then his VIP car arrived and he was gone

well worth my NZ$20

Nice Smile You saw cass live for $20!!!!
i wish i was there Cool
I haven't seen him yet but i will hopefully check him out in Spundae... what he does, his style is amazing. He is one of the best djs and sure he is an underground electronic music legend. deep/ambient house sounds great just like the way i want it to be.
But someday when i see him i will ask him some questions about music and his influence and inspirations.
I think he will be happy to talk about it... well, i think thats more interesting to him than chewing gum Laughing Wink

Why doesn't he spin along side Slide "pete martin" ?

Yeah, it was part of a release tour for his Spundae mix CD
(which is a beauty:)

In general I'd agree with you about the gum Smile but you should have seen
him -- it made my jaws hurt just watching Laughing

If you get the chance to talk to him, ask why he doesn't mix back-to-back
with Slide. Then quickly come online and tell us! I'd like to know too
(wish I'd thought of that question Confused ) but didn't really want to disturb the
man (he was a little altered)

Very Happy ok i found this on a web site here is what he says about djing back to back..

I don’t think Pete is really into the concept of dj'ing, but if he was then sure. But hopefully we will sort out the live side of the Cass & Slide Experience this year so we will be doing that together. Although we see more than enough of each other as it is in the studio!
