© SW4As the summer fades fast, here's a look back at one of the warmest summer festival memories...

On the last bank holiday weekend in August, London and Cardiff were both hosts of an event that saw some of the worlds biggest DJs convene for what was being promised as one of the summers hottest, must-attend events. Well in Cardiff, this is how it was received...

SW4 Cardiff 2007
On an immaculate summers day, in the beautiful surrounds of Coopers Field, guarded by the grand and majestic Cardiff Castle, people flocked through the gates.

By the time we arrived, Tall Paul was doing an excellent job of getting things going and keeping the crowds moving on the glorious hot sunshine. From there, Roger Sanchez donned his trademark shades and pumped out some pretty wicked tribal edged electro house. He finished off this tip-top performance with a remix of Underworld's famous 'Born Slippy' which sent pretty much everyone wild.

Pete Tong was next up and started to put out a bit of minimal tech so we took this chance to go grab a few drinks and check out the Time Flies tent. As you can see, they were not holding back and were totally up for having it...

SW4 Cardiff 2007

Eddie halliwell was up to his usual tricks on the decks, pumping out banging tune after banging tune. Eventually, after jumping up onto the decks, Eddie went forward to meet his fans and then promptly dived into them for a spot of crowd surfing!

SW4 Cardiff 2007
After his highly entertaining and high octane set, Brian M and McBunn hopped behind the decks and proceeded to ram out some very very hard hardstyle. It was definitely time for a few more drinks and some fresh air!

The darkness of night drew in and it was seen in by none other than the master Sasha. He was playing some very unique sounding, easy going music. The beat remained strong and as the night got darker and darker, the atmosphere just kept on building up. The music deepened and toughened as time went on, and the crowd began to build for the finalé from Paul van Dyk.

SW4 Cardiff 2007

When he hit the mainstage, the crowd was manic, pressing towards the front and PvD kicked off his set. He switched between trance and electro, until everything suddenly blended into a familiar sounding tune and an unbelievably mind blowing live performance of 'For An Angel' began to play! This was a true spectacle, and the atmosphere was buzzing as the live elements of the band carried on chipping in for a while. Floaty trance and electro followed, until the night, sadly, drew to a close.

SW4 Cardiff 2007
With my second outing to South West Four Cardiff sadly over, I have to say that yet again this event hit all the right spots. There was music for a huge host of tastes, and whilst slightly different from last years feel, it still carried one heck of an atmosphere. Yet another winner from SW4.

Special thanks to Tom Jenkins @ Cypher Press and Malik Adunni for making this possible!
