 Global Gathering had become one of the worlds biggest dance music festivals in recent years since the very first gathering in 2001 but the organises have cancelled the event for next year. Will it ever return or is this as the official statement says just a break so they can make things better...
This year could well be the very last Global Gathering event to be hosted as organises announce the cancellation of next year's event. The festival is one of the UK’s busiest and most popular with thousands flocking there every year. This year’s event was tainted by the death of a clubber, most likely caused by drug misuse. Could that be a reason why the event has been shut down for next year, as drugs are rife. It could well be that they have simply run out of money and the event no longer turns out any profit, possibly due to the potential booking of Paris Hilton for 2015.
Event so the end of Global is not a major blow to the festival scene as there are plenty more to fill the gap. The official statement was made on their website and while they claim the break is to ‘review’ all the elements of the show I think there are more undisclosed issues why we won’t see Global for next year.
GLOBAL GATHERING OFFICIAL STATEMENT
After 13 years of delivering one of the UK’s most successful electronic dance music events, the promoters of the GlobalGathering UK festival have decided that the festival will take a break in 2015 in order for all elements of the show to be reviewed ensuring GG remains at the heart of the UK dance market.
